Understanding your browser size
What is my browser size?
The large numbers show your layout viewport: the width and height available to the page in CSS pixels. This is useful when checking a responsive layout or sharing a display issue. Resize the window to take a new measurement automatically.
Why is my browser smaller than my screen?
Your screen contains the browser window and other desktop UI. Within that window, tabs, the address bar and borders take up space. The viewport measures the page area. A docked developer tools panel can reduce it too.
Are these physical pixels?
No. Dimensions here use CSS pixels, the units used for web layouts. Display scaling and browser zoom affect how they map to physical pixels. Device pixel ratio describes that mapping; it does not identify your exact browser zoom percentage or native panel resolution.
What changes when I zoom on a phone?
Pinch zoom can reduce the visual viewport while leaving the layout viewport unchanged. An on-screen keyboard may also reduce the visible area. The visual viewport card reports that area and the pinch scale when the browser provides them.
